Italy

Overview

Jim and Fran Lines and their family moved to Italy in 1963 and after learning Italian, began the BCM Italy ministry through Bible Clubs, teaching in the churches and discipling youth groups. They also began translation work on materials for use in Sunday schools and Bible clubs. From there, the ministry grew:

  • 1968: the Lines’ moved to Rimini, in Central Italy, where they held camps and clubs in rented facilities.
  • From 1966 to 1980, all eight volumes of Footsteps of Faith and Tiny Steps of Faith were translated and printed.
  • In 1970 BCM Italy was officially recognized by the government as a legal association.
  • 1980: BCM Italy bought a piece of property in the mountains where Camp Maranatha was developed. Every summer, Camp Maranatha holds three children’s camps, a young teen camp, a youth camp and three family camps. In the winter, a couple’s retreat and winter camp are held.
  • 2000: BCM Italy finished a doctrinal course for Junior High School students called ‘The Gymnasium of Faith’.
