BCM in Suriname (located on the north-east coast of South America) began through Bible clubs, which grew into youth work. In that ministry many were saved. One of the youth, in due time and after training, became involved in the ministry—and is now the BCM field leader for Suriname.

That initial youth ministry grew into a local church, which today is a center for worship, teaching, training, and outreach.

Besides the regular activities of a church, our ministry seeks to engage every believer in some form of Christian service. To help build up new believers and reach seekers, a correspondence course ministry is offered (BCM Basic Bible Course). There is of course children’s ministry, which includes Bible club, children’s church, and special ministries (VBS, camp, etc.). Seminars are held from time to time to concentrate on specific subjects. Teacher training is regularly offered. We also have a youth ministry, and periodic evangelism outreaches.

The camp ministry is an essential outreach part of the work. To this end, the Lord provided a property some years ago which is still in development, but even now is being used not only by us but by the wider Christian community. Outside of “camp” season, this BCM Ministry Center is used for retreats, prayer days, and other Christian activities.

The Lord has laid several other ministries on our hearts, for which we are asking the Lord to send laborers. Most notably, we greatly desire to be able to reach the many Mandarin-speaking Chinese that are flooding into the country; so are asking Him to send someone to minister to them. We also are asking God to send someone to develop the retreat ministry, as well as to evangelize the community surrounding the Ministry Center, in the hopes of planting a church in that area. And, not to be forgotten, children’s work is always a wide-open door.
