BCM International Update

Flo Tan with abstract oil paintings

“Each painting is a prayer of hope and love for those in need,” says Flo Tan, an artist who is using her God-given talents to raise funds and hope for children in Madagascar.

On November 15, 2025, ten of Flo’s oil paintings will be on exhibit in Maryland. The sale of the paintings will benefit children through Centre Alpha, a ministry of BCM International located near a slum in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

Caring for Orphans

On this island nation off the coast of Africa, this ministry center cares for 102 children who’ve lived in extreme poverty. Many of these children are orphans who faced harsh conditions or were wandering without hope before they were cared for by Centre Alpha. Now they have food, education and a safe place to call home.

True Life Change

Just like the children’s day-to-day lives have been changed by this ministry, the artist recalls her own life change in Christ. Flo Tan says she “was broken and lost when Jesus saved me about 17 years ago. Since then, I seek to serve God in His kingdom.” In 2016, she was introduced to abstract art. “I immediately was fascinated with the oil paints and was able to express myself on these canvases in each brush stroke and splash,” says Flo, “And God heals me through paintings.”

In 2020, Flo volunteered with BCM International, where He grew her desire to help children know and love Jesus. She says God gave her an art ministry, Healing Paint, to raise funds that “provide for children’s essential needs and share Jesus’ love and hope, and to connect with others through the joy of painting.”

Brightening Spaces Around the World

Ten oil pieces will be sold at the event being held in person in Maryland. They range in size from 20×18 inches to 36×36 inches and include one-piece and multi-panel works. Those who cannot attend in person can still purchase the art to benefit children in Madagascar, and shipping is possible.
